The most visited route in the Campania region is that of the Amalfi Coast Road that runs along the south of Sorrento’s peninsula. To make the most of the day it is best to leave early in the morning, especially during the summer months as the traffic can be quite heavy. From Calitri take the SS7 to Avellino and then the E841 to Salerno. Then follow the coast road through Ravello, Amalfi and Praiano to Positano. This heart stopping journey along the twisting S163 is one you won’t forget. With hotels & villages clinging to the limestone cliffs and the lemon groves bearing their colossal fruits, your attention can easily drawn taken away from the road. Listen out for the horns of the coaches that snake their way within an inch of each other.
